About This Project

This project was incredibly dynamic and challenging, since the client underwent a major remodel from 5,000 sqft to 10,000 and adding a subterranean garage. This meant that roughly half the project was retrofit into existing structure, while the other have was new construction. Throughout the project the client was altering their desires, which ultimately resulted in their dream home. Working directly with the clients on interior design features was another unique aspect, since we typically experience a home of this size being overseen by an interior designer. The homeowner had a very specific vision and obvious skill to be able to deliver a design consistent with her vision. Throughout the home their goal was clean lines and wow factor, with systems that were simple to use and consistent with their high-tech lifestyle. They wanted a multi-room music system which allowed their family of five to enjoy different streaming music sources by user, with up to 6 different streams available from Pandora, Spotify, and others. This is important when you consider the 32 pairs of music speakers in the home, and 8 landscape speakers, pumping out incredibly good quality music. Of course the audio can't be the only star of the show, they needed to be able to enjoy video from any one of six DirecTV boxes, four Apple TV streaming boxes, and three Bluray players. Of the 18 different video displays, the 4K Home Theater is their favorite, boasting a 133" Acoustically transparent screen with a dynamic 7.2 surround sound system filling the room with sound. What automated house would be complete without a centralized lighting system and custom lighting keypads, cleverly placed throughout the home to comply with the directive of clean lines. The custom installed alarm system and intelligently integrated video surveillance system combines with the door intercom to provide safety and security, whether in the home or out. When the doorbell rings a pleasant sound emits from select music speakers, and the in-wall iPad in the kitchen displays the camera image of the visitor. A quick push of the button and the homeowner can converse with the guest, or shoo away a solicitor. Rounding out the automation features of this home are the comfort and convenience options which include, motorized shades, custom electronic locks with keypad entry, electric sliding glass door for the theater room (ala Star Wars), electronic garage door controls, 8 Zones of HVAC Climate Control, and Fireplace control. The goal with the electronic door locks was to allow the client to park in the garage and get into the house without taking a key out of their pocket. Cars these days provide that luxury, why not a home! Overall, the client is delighted to have such simple control over a very complicated home system. With simple whole house scenes the clients can welcome themselves home or simulate their occupancy while away. Or "Wow" guests with a whole house Audio, Video, and Lighting scene called Wow! This house has it all!

About This Project

Shortly after moving into this home, our client wanted to add space and create a custom game room, pool, and courtyard space. They plan to entertain significantly, and wanted a high-performance space that they could be proud of. We integrated quality electronics into a professionally designed space, with culminated in a comfortable environment with plenty of entertainment options. The 9 video screens combine to provide a 138" TV with flawless picture, and incredible surround sound performance. This entertainment can be taken outside with the cleverly hidden rock speakers throughout the property, and outdoor WiFi to allow everything to be controlled with iPads and iPhones from anywhere in or out of the home via the Savant Control Systems. Integration of the lighting control, climate control, and audio video into a central app, provides simple control and convenience.

About This Project

We were contacted by Seapointe Construction, who was involved in a significant remodel of this beach-front property. The clients expressed interest in home technology and had some specific requests for a system that integrated their favorite music and video sources, with a simple control interface. At the surface this looked like a traditional project if this nature, however, the levels of quality and usability had to be top-notch and the client wanted the most current options available. This project presented at least two significant challenges, first of which is the design of the room and the fact that the sitting area and the bed are perpendicular to one another. The client wanted to be able to view the TV from either area, along with enjoying full surround sound. We accomplished this through an automated TV mount and custom speaker placement and automated switching. The second challenge was hiding all of the technology in an elegant fashion, while accounting for serviceability and ventilation. The automated TV mount helped us to overcome this challenge, as the TV retracts into a recessed position when not in use. We also used speakers that nearly disappear into the walls and ceilings, wrapped the bathroom TV in a nice trim, and used sliding/rotating equipment racks for all of the gear in the cabinet. To make it simple, we integrated a Crestron control system with all of the features available at the touch of a button.

About This Project

This was a most unique project for us because it was part of an older MDU building which had a lot of character and building restrictions. One of the biggest challenges was working our client's desires for a nicely integrated home into the restrictions of the building, while being respectful of the neighbors. Specifically, this building does not allow any speakers in the ceiling, all wiring had to be run in fire-rated conduit and fire-stopped on either ends, any devices installed in walls adjoining units had to be fire-rated. We also had to be considerate of the very elaborate design elements throughout the home, including pre-finished wood panel walls, intricate wall paper, millwork and luxurious natural stone. This well-known building is home to many different units, and this client made the decision to combine two adjacent units into one large "flat" designed for luxury living with an open floorplan. Technology in these units was non-existent prior to our work, so we had to run new infrastructure for data, voice, video, WiFi, and audio. The client’s requests included a system that was simple to operate, elegantly integrated, and with the best performance that we could attain given the limitations of the property. Our creative solutions included a motorized articulating mount for the TV and sound bar over the fireplace, flush mounting nearly all the TVs in the walls, flush mounting an in-ceiling subwoofer cleverly into the fireplace cavity to allow it to perform as an in-wall subwoofer in a small space, and installing speakers low throughout the property, fully invisible behind wallpaper, or into cabinets where available, to allow for other design elements to sparkle. The designer then had the speakers faux painted to nearly disappear. The result is a project that the client is proud of, is simple to operate, and integrates (4) TVs, (2) Apple TVs, (1) BluRay player, and (3) Cable boxes, shared through the custom AV distribution. The audio for the video sources, along with an available (3) streams of cloud music, can be shared to any of the (2) surround sound rooms, or (6) stereo listening areas. Integrated into the control system is the security alarm, surveillance camera, lighting, and motorized shades. The building uses a passive ventilation system and with its beach-side local, it does not have any climate control. Clean lines and technology blended with the environment is what sets this project apart, and it is a huge change from the two separate condo units with their dated look.

About This Project

When this client approached us with this project, it was considered a significant challenge. The house was in the final stages of completion, with all the wiring run by a company that is used to doing track homes, not full custom builds. In a project of this caliber, good wiring means the difference between a life of pleasure and entertainment or headaches. We made it all work for the better, providing a user-friendly and customizable entertainment and automation experience. No room was spared in the attention to detail, with lighting control and music spread throughout, and nearly all rooms getting a dedicated television. All of the TVs can view content from the shared 400 Disc BluRay changer, Apple TV, Roku, Xbox 360, and Two HD Tivo Elite Boxes. The house music needs are served by the Sonos integration with Control4, which allows them to play various Internet Radio sources, including Pandora. An AM/FM tuner with dual streams and an iPod dock also round out the music options. The Lighting Control, Audio/Video, Climate Control, Front Door lock, Motorized Shades, and Gate Entry system are integrated to function as a cohesive system. This way the client can press one button in the morning and enjoy a preset lighting scene, comfort controls, and the morning news at a comfortable volume. He can rest easy knowing the front door is locked and the garage door is closed, since his system provides the status of these areas. Overall, the client is pleased that we took his desires for complex automation, and made them simple enough to use everyday by anyone. Oh yeah, letting a guest into the house remotely from his iPhone is pretty cool too!

About This Project

This project was put together with the client's desire for high-quality music, along with his demand for a beautiful and functional outdoor space. Working with the landscape contractor, we blended the rock speakers into the soft-scape and the technology into the BBQ area hard-scape. This provided the necessary protection from the elements that we needed, while allowing the TV to be viewed from nearly anywhere in the space. The client can enjoy iPod or CDs around the pool, firepit, or spa, while the ball game plays clearly at the Bar area. Or, the same great music can be enjoyed by everyone at the same time, controlled very simply with a custom wireless remote.
